Don Grybas, Owner & President of GEMCOR, Inc., holds a degree in public accounting from DePaul University in Chicago, and has received extensive training in business management and computer operations. He began his career in the Federal Student Aid industry in 1982 as a staff accountant with Student Financial Aid Services, Inc. Over the next nine years with this firm, Don advanced through several leadership roles - including Accounting Manager, Operations Director, and Vice President. In 1991 Don acquired the company, and rebranded it as GEMCOR, Inc., which stands for Grybas Educational Management Corporation. Under his leadership, GEMCOR has grown into a highly trusted name in Federal Student Aid consulting and school administration support. As President of GEMCOR, Don oversees all executive-level decisions and ensures accurate interpretation of federal regulations. In addition to his leadership within the company, he actively represents GEMCOR at national and regional trade shows and educational conferences, speaking on various aspects of Federal Student Aid administration. Don's background as an accreditation evaluator, combined with his degree in accounting, give him a unique ability to advise clients not only on Financial Aid administration and computer operations, but also on broader matters of school administration and financial responsibility. Don starts each day with a good cup of coffee and a positive outlook. Outside the office, he enjoys golfing, fishing, riding his motorcycle, attending classic car shows, and spending quality time with his family. When asked about a career highlight, Don doesn’t point to a single project—instead, he proudly reflects on the people who have chosen to spend their entire careers working alongside him. The majority of Don’s team members have been with GEMCOR for 15 to over 30 years, a testament to the culture of loyalty and respect he helps foster. What Don values most in client relationships is satisfaction—knowing the job was done right and the client is happy. His favorite part of working at GEMCOR is the camaraderie and dedication of the people he works with every day. If he had to describe himself in one word, it would be detailed, and he lives by the golden rule: “Treat others as you’d like to be treated.”
