Michele Campbell, Federal Direct Student Loan Officer, began her journey at GEMCOR in 2009 as an Administrative Assistant, where she supported daily data processing and general office operations. In 2010, following the Congressional shift from the FFEL program to Direct Loans, Michele transitioned into a dual role—supporting both general operations and the newly established Federal Direct Student Loan (FDSL) Department. As the volume of Direct Loan activity rapidly increased, Michele dedicated herself fully to helping clients navigate the evolving landscape of Federal Student Aid.

Michele oversees the daily processing of FDSL loan awards for GEMCOR’s client institutions. Her extensive knowledge of the program allows her to assist clients with virtually any aspect of student eligibility and loan management. Megan and Michele combine to offer the highest level of support and guidance in managing their FDSL program activity. 

What Michele enjoys most about her role is the ever-changing nature of the industry, which keeps her mind sharp and engaged. Outside of work, she finds joy in yard work, spending time with her three dogs, and being with family and friends. Her favorite part about working at GEMCOR is the people—colleagues who make every day enjoyable. Michele is also passionate about woodworking, a hobby that reflects her hands-on, creative spirit. Clients working with Michele can expect dedication and a genuine commitment to helping them find the answers they need. Among her favorite memories at GEMCOR are the spontaneous snowball fight in the office and the unforgettable Christmas parties at Blackhawks games—moments that highlight the fun and camaraderie of the GEMCOR team.
